We intend for this to be a day to model a variety of ways that naturally allow gratitude and laughter to emerge amidst the time and space that shed light on healing perspectives.
We believe that it is important to honor the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of our feelings so we can learn how to release from the resentment, anger, lies, betrayals, and focus on the positive aspects that made us chose friendship with people in the first place.
Compassion, communication and forgiveness strategies and skills, actually empower us to move beyond the rough waters of betrayals, and grief, and back to the original gifts that attract us to invest in friendships for healthy and healing outcomes.
Like the first Thanksgiving with the Pilgrims and the Native Americans, we will base what we eat and do on who shows up to participate and what abundance we all bring.
Like all the Thanksgivings before the industrialization of the food, we will work with the ingredients that are brought to build a healthy and delicious meal or snacks. Table ware will be provided. Making the place setting decorations will be part of the fun for some.
We will make or enjoy music, decorating, a variety of board or active games, and making some useful items that can be used as gifts as we plan the variety of classes, support groups, reading circles, and activities we will be hosting during the ThankMas Year.
This is not a football watching event. This is an AA and Al-anon Family Friendly event.
